CBP Standardizes email address format
As part of its ongoing effort to standardize procedures and to improve communications, CBP has implemented a standardized email address format that it is rolling out across its ports. The new format is as follows:
ICAO airport code, underscore, GAP (General Aviation Processing) @cbp.dhs.gov
Example: KTEB_GAP@cbp.dhs.gov
At the time of writing, the new email has already been implemented at two thirds of the CBP with more airports coming online every week. This new protocol will make it much easier for General Aviation operators to contact CBP at the ports of entry where they wish to operate. Note that these new emails do not supersede or replace the need to comply with the timely and correct submission of APIS and obtaining the necessary clearance emails and permissions to land.
Accordingly, submission to the correct email address should not be interpreted as authorization. Consistent with existing CBP procedures, an operation is not considered authorized unless and until explicit confirmation has been received from CBP.
During the transition period, operators should confirm whether a specific port of entry has fully transitioned to the GAP email format before submitting any request. CST also maintains the current CBP Fact Sheets in the Members Section of our website to assist with operational planning and coordination.
The adoption of a uniform email structure reflects CBP’s continued efforts to improve coordination across its ports of entry. By standardizing communication channels, CBP is helping create a more consistent and predictable environment for the General Aviation community, strengthening both compliance execution and overall process efficiency.
