Vaping and Mexico do not mix.

On January 17, 2025, Mexico published in its Federal Register the official notice of the law passed on December 12, 2024 that outlaws the importation, manufacture, sale and use of electronic cigarettes and “Vapes”. While the use of vapes while in Mexico does not necessarily get you into trouble, bringing them into the country DOES create a serious problem. If you are caught bringing electronic cigarettes (vapes) into the country, you could face legal action by Mexican Customs and be subject to fines and penalties exceeding $1,000 USD.  However, if you bring in a large quantity of vapes (the exact number has not been accurately defined) and Mexican Customs deems that you are importing these items with the intent to distribute them, you could also face jail time and fines reaching $100,000 USD.

So, let your passengers and other crew members know that unless they have a burning desire to find out more about the Mexican legal system and/or want to really ruin their trip, they should leave their vapes behind.
